There were flowers here

Hmm

Meadowsweet leaves still undamaged

This was support for the triteleia;
just as well they are spreading elsewhere.
They will show again next year.

The lysimachia will regenerate. It has taken a while (several years) to get established in our leached soil but it was looking good this year. It will be fine.

I was going to prune this cotoneaster, just not quite like this.

There were aquilegia seeding stems here.
Hope they are in there somewhere still.

White astilbe survived!

Next door's cat (I think it is next door's cat – newish neighbours)
which has been making itself at home under That Tree
came to investigate.

Cat had a nosey in the shed too

Tidied up a bit

The cowberry should thrive now with less competition

More cowberry; the tree team tried to slice off a bit more trunk (see gash behind the cowberry)
but their chainsaw was hitting rock so they stopped.

At least plants regrow. Cars don't. The tree would have landed on the car if we'd left it. An update on the happenings near its distant cousin that is collapsing further up the boggy brae anon.

Meanwhile the log splitting and piling has begun. It looks as if Toad may have to all the splitting because when I began it this morning, I also began gasping and coughing. It is very aromatic wood and very sappy. Stacking it doesn't seem to be a problem so I'll do that.
