Another tree another pile of logs to split

The crown of this tree (never liked it anyway and I think it has doubled in size in the eight years we've been here) began to open just like the one that is collapsing up at the top of the boggy brae. Trouble is, when this one fell it was going to fall on the car so we called in the tree team to dispatch it safely. There was already a young downy birch tree growing under it which, rather surprisingly, survived this dismantling operation. There is cowberry too. The flowerbed did not fare so well but it will regrow next year.

Downy birch leaves visible bottom right. I'll be able to get that rhododendron to trim it too.
