Bow-naming

Black Douglas Border Bows tend to be given names. My new one is the fifth bow in the family. So far their names have been Admiral Benbo, Bilbo, Blubo and Babybo. Bilbo has recently been adopted into a new family.

The new bow naming thoughts have gone like this:

Black Douglas initials = BD

BD ≈ Biddy

¿Biddybo? ... maybe. Toad disapproves but only, I suspect, because misogyny has abused this name, derived from the lovely Celtic name, Bridget.

I have imagined myself saying "Come on, Biddy old bean", when my arrows are flying wild.

From there it's an easy step to BOB.

That's Bobbie as in Roberta in The Railway Children

Because it's a she-bow, natch.
