The Irrepressible Rose in August

The irrepressible rose, so-called because I cut it back to the ground every year as it straggles across our front doorway and porch and also because it gets some kind of mildewy blight every year, has done well this year. It hasn't outgrown itself and perhaps that has helped it produce just a few small but beautiful roses for our appreciation.

The den rose has done its major flowering for this year and is ready for a tidy up, but not before I've noted that as its flowers die back the pinks dominate instead of the whites.
